A new Sproughton village shop opened for trading in March 2010. Managed by a Community Interest Company (CIC) and run by volunteers, this is a not-for-profit venture dedicated to the community.
The shop is located in the former tractor garage at the Tithe Barn, Lower Street, Sproughton, IP8 3AA - see How to get there for a map. The shop is normally open from 07:45 - 17:00 each weekday, from 09:30 - 12:30 on Saturdays and from 10:00 - 13:00 on Sundays. For Bank Holiday Opening Times, go to Events.
This is how we looked on our first day of trading!
The shop’s premises adjacent to the Tithe Barn were converted in 2009 by the Parish Council, with grants from Suffolk County Council’s Corporate Regeneration Fund. The shop was initially stocked and equipped with grants from Suffolk County Council’s Enterprising Communities Fund, a grant from the Locality Budget of County Councillor Kathy Pollard and donations from a Trust and from private individuals. A little more Project history is available, along with some photos.
